Middle of the week...it's downhill now!

I've made it almost a full week without cheating yet on my diet. I've found that with Weight Watchers and the point system, I can adjust during the day and still do alright if I splurge a little one meal. Tonight I splurged! Well, not too bad really. I had sushi at a nearby restaurant. It was so nice to eat out and not have to wash the dishes. And, lucky for me, the sushi didn't have too many points.

I did try a new cracker today. I can eat 3 large crackers and they only have 1 point. They are extremely light but still crunchy and taste really good with some Laughing Cow Cheese. I've included a picture to help locate it on your grocery shelf.

I have continued my daily workout with my Wii Active. After having gotten over the initial muscle soreness, it's easier each day. That's not to say I don't still moan during some of the exercises. I'm certainly still trying to improve.

Another day...

It seems that work days always seem to mess up my organized thoughts. I have all these goals but after I get home from work, they often fall apart. I guess that primarily happens since I'm so tired once I get home. Actually, today I had a moderate amount of energy today, but I had so many leftovers in the frig that I didn't want to cook.

So, apologies to all...no recipe. I have discovered that strawberries are the best filling food if you need something sweet. In the past if I wanted dessert, I would pig out on whatever was available. Before Weight Watchers, my worst habit was eating buttered popcorn. It was a regular later afternoon snack. I wasn't always really hungry, but I was tired and wanted some "comfort" foods.

Lately, my goal is to learn when I'm hungry and if the urge to binge comes along, I try to find something else to fill the time. What I've discovered is that I'm not hungry! It's actually amazing that I feel satisfied much of the time. And I've been eating so much lately, it's amazing that I'm losing weight. I have so many foods to choose from that are not bad for me.

As for my exercise program, I completed Day 4 of my Wii Active 30 Day Challenge tonight. It was really nice that the program gave me a day off yesterday with all my sore muscles. With that break I was able to attack the program with more vigor and energy.

That said, I'll see what my muscle say to me tomorrow and translate to you later.

I made it to Day 2

It's nice to be able to write that I have been very honest while trying to eat "correctly". I know what I'm supposed to eat but those bad fats just have so much more flavor. As I've thought about this dilemma I have realized that to help with the problem, I need to add more spices and flavors to my personal cooking. As for tonight's dinner however, I had to rely on prepackaged, so there is no actual recipe.

I realize that buying something already packaged runs the risk of having more fats but I discovered this while looking in the vegetarian part of the frozen foods. Now, I am not a vegetarian by any means, but more and more of the foods on the shelves are tasting better. Anyway, what I discovered are called Eggplant Cutlets. These are lightly breaded eggplant slices that can be baked. I'm sure that extra flavor would come out in the frying but I contented myself with the baking.

After adding a very small amount of spaghetti sauce as a topping, this tasted very good. I actually ate 6 oz or 2 servings as the calorie count is only 100/serving. The Weight Watcher point system showed only 2 points per serving. I'll certainly be trying more of this in the future but it also shows me just how easy it would be for me to get an eggplant and prepare it myself.

You'll hear me complain at times about not being able to find certain foods in our grocery store. If the weather is bad for a few days, the planes can't always fly and the barges might not make it with supplies. Fresh produce is the hardest to get. I just want you to know why I might make these comments.

As for exercise, I completed Day 2 of my 30 Day Challenge on the Wii Active. You could hear me moaning all day. Every time I had to kneel down or get on the floor my thighs complained. Now I realize that not everyone has to get on the floor often during the day, but working with a kindergarten student does tend to encourage different movements.

All I can say right now is "Yeah". I'm on a roll. It might be a very small hill right now, but I'm still climbing.

A new blog just for me...

I'm starting this blog to keep track of my life. Part of this is due to the fact that I have found myself gaining weight for the simple reason that I am eating too much and not exercising. Another part of me just wants to keep track of my life. It seems that I stay busy but when I look back I wonder what I actually did. So, this blog may only be of interest to me, but I will try to make it one that has some interest.

Now, I have to start. Where should that be? I think the weight/exercise aspect of my life is very important so I've signed up for 90 days with Weight Watchers online to start. Many of my comments will be directly related to recipes on their point scale. I realize this might not interest many, but if you are, then I'll be sure to have them here as often as possible. If I don't have a recipe, I'll try and show you a packaged item that I like.

I am also going to start a 30 day challenge with my Wii. I never though a video program could make me really move, but after last evening's first day, I staggered away from the TV after 30 minutes. Today I will try to work through the stiff muscles and complete day 2. Tomorrow I'll expand on the Wii program and what it actually does.

As for new recipes, today's was such a simple one, but I'll share. I wanted a breakfast that was filling but with few Weight Watcher points. It added up to only 3.5 points. Yeah, me!!!
2 egg whites
1 complete egg
6 mushrooms
1 T.onion
I sauteed the mushrooms and onion in butter flavored spray and then set aside. I scrambled the eggs and added the mushrooms and onions.

I told you it was a simple recipe. I had to add the complete egg...looking at those egg whites was just NOT appetizing. I had to have color and texture...thus I sacrificed 2 whole points for my egg! I thought seriously about adding some Picante Sauce, but when I opened the infrequently used jar and saw something white floating on top, I decided to skip it today.

Now it's off to the grocery store to get some "healthy" foods and replace some off the UFO's in the refrigerator.

See you tomorrow.
